Past Simple

Today we take a quick look on the Past Simple Tense.

First, let's look at the formation of Past Simple Tense.

Affirmative sentense

- all the subjects (I, you, we, they, he, she, it) use the same verb form - the second form.
- the second form can be regular and irregular.
- regular verb is made by adding -(e)d to the infinitive.
e.g. work - worked
play - played
try - tried
like - liked
- irregular verbs are all gethered in a table and are to be learnt by heart.
Here is the link to the list I usually suggest to my students.

Questions (interogative sentense)

- we use only one helping verb, in one possible form - did;
- remember to put the main verb into its first form after putting 'did' in front of the subject.

Negatives (negative sentense)

- we use the same hrlping verb 'did';
- we put 'did' after the subject and add particle 'not'.

Some visual poster for your students.
