I have several favorite warm-ups which can be easily altered and adjusted to your needs. I name them in random order because they are all good.

1. Guess who I am. You need a card for each student. The cards can be with the names of professions, hobbies, crimes, anything you can create or imagine. The procedure is quite simple. You give out all the cards, students can explain their card or even mime one by one. The rest of the group should guess it. I love to do it especially with new groups. Advantage: everyone is practicing speaking and everyone is listening carefully in order to guess.

So what do you need to have a successful lesson? Is it a magic? Is there anything special you should know?
Well, yes and no. Yes, you need to get some knowledge of the teaching logic. No, it's not a magic. But you should have some understanding when to stop.

One bite at a time.

Preparation for the class has incredible impact on your success as a teacher, especially if we speak of the first lesson with a new group of students. So what should you start with? I suggest you looking closely at yourself. You are the person students look at, so start with yourself. These are just some things you need to think of:

To be a Teacher one must have a talent!

Having taught for about 7 years, I truly believe that not everyone can become a teacher. It is not the question of education or even your personality. I think it's a gift, a talent which you get at your birth and which you develop through the experience. What is it more? Passion! Yes, passion is one of the key ingredients of a real teacher. It won't let you stop desperately in the middle of the way. It will keep you going!
